Newburgh Law Enforcement to Focus on Traffic Safety

The City of Newburgh Police department has launched a new initiative to improve traffic safety throughout the city. According to the Record Online:

City police created the unit in response to the 1,219 accidents reported from July 1, 2018 to April 30; numerous complaints from residents; and the three most recent fatal accidents, according to the release prepared by Lt. Kevin Lahar.

Police warned drivers to slow down and yield to people or bicyclists trying to cross roadways.

Factors that commonly contribute to car crashes include speeding, driver inattention, and driver impairment. These dangerous driving behaviors have resulted in countless fatalities and serious injuries. Preventing innocent people from being hurt or killed starts with making safe choices behind the wheel.

We are grateful for the City’s efforts to keep our community safer. If you or a loved one has been hurt in a car crash in the city of Newburgh, or in the Hudson Valley, contact us today.
