A City of Poughkeepsie police officer was struck by a car early yesterday morning around 1:30am after a drunk driver ran a red  light. The officer was on his was to assist colleagues with a stolen car and his lights and siren were on while he was traveling through the intersection of Hoffman Ave and Delafield St. The patrol car was struck on the passenger side by a 2010 Audi driven by Joanna Smykowski, 20.

A Pennsylvania man is facing felony charges after his tractor-trailer collided head-on with a New Jersey woman’s car on Monday evening on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge. Police say that James Tiedeken’s rig was traveling westbound on I-84 at about 9:30pm when it veered out of control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a Subaru driven by Elissa Betterbid, 39. Betterbid was  taken to St.

34-year-old Michelle Cio of Tarrytown was traveling southbound on the northbound side of the Taconic State Parkway and struck another vehicle around 12:22am this morning, August 12. She died in the crash. Cio entered the parkway somewhere north of Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, officials said. The other driver, Alicia Asadoorian, 27, suffered leg injuries and was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

A woman was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center after a boating accident on the Hudson River last Saturday night, August 3. The accident came just 8 days after the bride-to-be was killed in another accident on the Hudson. Reporters found a man, who was believed to have left the scene of the accident, asleep inside the Roseton power-generating facility at 4am. The boat crashed near the plant at 9:47pm on Saturday. The man refused to take a breathalyzer test when authorities awoke him.
