A Pennsylvania man is facing felony charges after his tractor-trailer collided head-on with a New Jersey woman’s car on Monday evening on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge. Police say that James Tiedeken’s rig was traveling westbound on I-84 at about 9:30pm when it veered out of control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a Subaru driven by Elissa Betterbid, 39. Betterbid was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where she was treated for head, leg and internal injuries. Tiedeken, 39, was charged with vehicular assault, a felony, along with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
