Indictment: Driver Who Hit New Windsor Pedestrian Was On Drugs

A 35 year old man, Arsen Berezhansky, of the Bronx, was arraigned Friday in Orange County Court on an indictment charging assault and vehicular assault, felonies, and driving under the influence of drugs. Mr. Berezhansky was said to be under the influence of drugs including oxycodone when the car he was driving struck a 47-year-old man who was walking his dog in New Windsor on February 28th. The victim suffered from broken bone and was hospitalized for a month. Berezhansky’s lawyer, Benhamin Ostrer, entered a “not guilty” plea. He has requested that Judge Jefferey Berry lower Mr. Berezhansky’s bail from the $50,000 previously posted. Ostrer stated that Berezhansky had serious medical issues. Berry kept the bail at $50,000 but said he will allow the defense to request a revised bail or bond amount. Contact us for a free appraisal.
