Winter Driving in the Northeast, Be Prepared

We’ve already begun to experience the frigid temperatures and significant snow fall experts have predicted for the winter of 2016-2017. Before your find yourself seriously injured in a car crash take time to learn about what you can do to prepare for winter driving:

-Make sure your vehicle is prepared by getting a tune up, leaving at least half a tank of gas in your vehicle, ensuring windshield wipers, batteries, and tires are in good condition, and stock your vehicle with a scarper brush, a small shovel, jumper cables, road flares, a flashlight, and tools for traction, like sand or cat litter. Store warm clothing (blankets, gloves, and hats) in your vehicle.

-ALWAYS remove ice and snow from your vehicle before driving.

-When driving in snow/ice reduce speeds and be sure to wear your seat belt.

-It is crucial that you remain distraction free so that you’re able to react quickly to changing weather and traffic conditions.

-In case of an emergency refrain from stopping within travel lanes. If possible travel to the nearest exit or safe locations. Use four way flashers when necessary.
