Takata Corporation, a Japanese airbag manufacturer that provides airbags for big names like Ford, BMW, and Toyota has declared 33.8 million vehicle airbags defective. Some are saying this announcement may lead to the largest auto recall campaign in US history.
The faulty airbags have already resulted in six deaths and more than 100 injuries. Not all, but some of the airbags have the capability of exploding, shooting out dangerous metal fragments. Officials say those in high humidity areas have a higher risk of airbag default- those who live in areas with seasonal humidity are at lower risk but should still follow recall protocols.
