On Saturday, August 29th a young man, just 25 years old went for a motorcycle ride with his 25 year old female friend. The young man, who had worked in law enforcement, was driving the motorcycle when he was unable to navigate a sharp curve.
The motorcycle exited the road and struck a tree. Both the driver and his passenger died as a result of the crash. While investigations are ongoing officials report speed as the primary contributing factor to the crash.
According to the Insurance Information Institute 34% of motorcyclists involved in fatal crashes were speeding at the time of the incident.
Both victims were from the city of Poughkeepsie. This is not the first fatal motorcycle crash that has occurred in Dutchess County this summer.
