Driving can be an extremely dangerous in general. However, there are times when driving and being on the road can be more hazardous than others, according to the National Safety Commission. Check it out!:
Saturdays According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Saturday is the most dangerous day of the week to be on the roads. The average number of fatalities on a Saturday is 158! Reasons as to why this particular day seems to cause the most wrecks is based on multiple conclusions. For example, more drivers tend to be out on the weekends which produce more drunk drivers at night, a major reason behind fatal car accidents.
August The NHTSA believes that more drivers are out on the roads during this month and for longer periods of time. This is likely due to the warm weather, and summer is a busy season for motorists. Once students are out for summer vacation, more teens will be on the roads. The nicer weather usually results in more family vacations and therefore more time on the roads, as well as drivers who have consumed alcohol.
Rush Hour This is an obvious one. There are frustrated and impatient drivers on the road at this time. Not to mention the increased number of motorists heading to work or home during these hours.
July 4th August may be considered one of the most dangerous months to be driving. However, July 4th is known to be the biggest day to avoid traveling! Many people are on the roads on their way to a family gathering or to a destination where fireworks are to be displayed. More than 900 people die in Fourth of July car accidents each year, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The summer months tend to have more drivers on the road anyway, and when you add holidays like the Fourth of July when people tend to drink more than usually, it can lead to many fatal car accidents. Several other elements create for dangerous driving periods such as holiday weekends, change in seasons, and the tactics taken by a specific driver can influence whether or not an accident will take place. We remind everyone to never drink and drive and to always take it slow and to be calm when driving in hazardous conditions!
