A bicyclist was struck in Syracuse and left with serious injuries on March, 23rd. The cyclist, a 78 year old man, was riding his bike at approximately 8:30pm when the incident occurred. The driver told police that she didn’t see the bicyclist until he was right in front of her car.
When the emergency responders arrived, the bicyclist was unconscious. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital and listed in critical condition. The driver was not injured in the accident.
The bicyclist was riding west on Gifford Street through the intersection with South West Street. The driver was traveling south of South West Street when they collided.
Riding a bicycle at night can be very dangerous. If you do so, make sure that you can be seen by drivers on the road. Ride with a light on and reflectors to make your presence known.
