A new study suggests what you think you know about drowning could be wrong. Many expect a drowning scene to be quite dramatic, screaming, flailing, splashing, clear indicators that something is wrong and help is required.
Fox 9 investigators conducted an experiment which found the opposite to be true, often times when a child is drowning; the whole ordeal takes place without a sound.
In reality, drowning takes place very quickly, and often, very quietly. Fox 9 investigators staged drownings in busy pools, full of young swimmers and their parents. Parents were shocked when investigators told them that staged drowning’s happened right before their eyes, without them ever noticing.
According to the study, the key is knowing what to look for, and putting the proper safety protocols in place. Click here for safe swimming tips.
