Orange County Arts Council Seeks Veteran Artists, Poets, Essayists

As part of its fourth annual County Art Awards Celebration on Thursday, November 10th at the Harness Racing Museum in Goshen, the Orange County Arts Council is adding a special tribute to veterans this year. A special award has been created to honor one veteran who has demonstrated a sincere commitment to the arts through the creation of his/her own art or his/her involvement with the arts in the general community or within the veteran community. As with all of the county art awards, this award encompasses all visual, literary and performing arts. Anyone can submit a nomination and nomination forms can be downloaded from the Orange County Arts Council’s website at www.ocartscouncil.org. The deadline for nominations is September 21st. In addition, the Orange County Arts Council is seeking poets and essayists to submit original poems or prose with a Veterans theme. This opportunity is open to veterans and the general public. One will be selected and read at the Arts Awards Ceremony. Entries should be made to the Orange County Arts Council via e-mail to dawn@ocartscouncil.org or to Dawn Ansbro, Executive Director, Orange County NY Arts Council, Inc., 23 White Oak Drive, P.O. Box 574, Sugar Loaf, NY 10981. The winner will be notified no later than October 14th. The Orange County Arts Council Annual Art Awards recognize living individuals, organizations, and corporations which have made outstanding contributions to the arts in our community. Recipients may include individual artists, arts patrons, volunteers, non-profit cultural organizations, and corporate patrons. The Orange County Arts Council is a non-profit 501c3 organization whose mission is to strengthen the arts in Orange County by providing educational, promotional, and information services.
