Facebook, Twitter, and More…While Behind the Wheel

Before texting and driving was illegal in NY, Finkelstein and Partners launched our “Commit to Quit” campaign. Why “Commit to Quit?” As personal injury attorneys, we see the tragic results of texting and driving far too often.

As smart phones have evolved, the issues transcend texting while driving, and now encompasses a range of hand-held distractions.  A survey conducted by AT&T found:

  • 27% of drivers age 16 to 65 report using Facebook
  • 14% report using Twitter (and a startling 30% of this group do it “all the time.”)
  • 17% take “selfies”
  • 61% text while driving
  • 33% email while driving
  • 28% surf the internet
  • 10% use Instagram/Snapchat

If you fall into one of these categories, we urge you, put the phone down. Commit to Quit- it could save a life.
