Chobani is voluntarily recalling their Greek yogurt cups due to the discovery of mold in some cups. Customers reported illnesses on social media sites, which prompted the recall. About one week ago, the company insisted that some of its retailers pull the product from its store shelves, saying that some cups were “swelling and bloating”. They were originally not planning on issuing a recall. Most of the affected products have already been pulled from the shelves. The company, based in New Berlin, NY, said the affected products came from its Idaho facility only accounts for less than 5% of its total production. The containers being recalled are marked with the code 16-012 and the expiration dates are September 11 to October 7. The number of reported illnesses is unknown.
