A crash that occurred at 10:10am on Thursday morning took the life of Judith Hannigan, 66, of Hyde Park. A 1994 Mercury Sable driven by Joseph Welch, 57 was traveling north on 9G when he failed to keepright and crossed into the southbound lane. He collided head-on with another vehicle driven by Hannigan. The crash turned her car sideways so that it was facing east. A truck traveling south, behind her, struck her vehicle broadside. No charges have been pressed against any of the drivers. Hannigan was pronounced dead at the scene. Welch was taken to Saint Francis Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles. This is a dreadful tragedy in our area.
