The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Issues Record Fine to Fiat Chrysler

Fiat Chrysler has been issued a $105 million dollar fine. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company mishandled safety recalls on millions of vehicles.

In addition to the fine, Fiat Chrysler will also repurchase over a half million Ram pickup trucks (2008 – 2012 models) due to defective steering parts

Defective steering is not the only issue with the Chrysler vehicles.The placement of the fuel tank on the rear axle has been linked to 75 deaths.  The Chrysler, aware of the problem, issued a recall but according to the NHTSA repairs were not conducted in an adequate amount of time, in total only 3 percent of over a million vehicles were fixed.
