VSG Attorneys, Nancy Morgan and Christine Clemens, presented a CLE on behalf of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Veterans on Wednesday June 15, 2016 entitled “From Discharge Upgrades to VA Benefits.” The CLE was hosted by Orrick, Herrington, and Suttcliffe, LLP in their Manhattan office. The CLE was well attended by approximately 80 attorneys from New York and New Jersey spanning both the private and public sectors, with an interest in serving Veterans.
Orrick Attorney, Stephen Lessard kicked off the presentation with a very informative session on discharge status upgrades. He encouraged the nearly 80 participants to engage in pro bono representation of Veterans with these unmet needs. Nancy and Christine presented on VA benefits along with Peter Kempner of Brooklyn Legal Services, who presented on VA pension benefits. They encouraged more participation from attorneys in this area to assist Veterans through the complex maze of VA benefits.
