Due to a labeling mishap, Kraft is recalling 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wiener. A consumer alerted the company of unexpected cheese filling their mouth when biting into the product. Following the alert, Kraft issued the Class I Recall due to incorrect labeling of the Classic Cheese Dogs. No adverse reactions have been reported.
Class I recalls are the most urgent category issued by the USDA, meaning there is a “reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” Because the hot dogs contain dairy and are not labeled as having dairy, the risk is high for consumers who are sensitive to dairy products.
