Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus released the following statement on Friday about a decision by the Department of Veterans Affairs to deny an anticipated annual federal investment more than $500,000 to Hudson River Housing. If no action is taken, funding will run out and the program will be terminated after September 30th.“Unfortunately, we often hear of wasteful spending on government programs that don’t work,” Neuhaus said. “The Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) is a highly successful initiative that is utilized by our veterans. Our veterans need and benefit from this critical program. At a time when our nation’s military continues to face enormous challenges throughout the world, our veterans and servicemen and servicewomen, need to know that their government has their backs. I urge the VA to restore this funding immediately.”
