April 02, 2015: Orange County Jury Rules in Favor of Pedestrian Hit by Commercial Snow Plow Driver Held Accountable for Speeding

Middletown, NY – Andrew G. Finkelstein, managing partner at Finkelstein & Partners LLP, one of New York State’s largest personal injury law firms, announced that a jury has awarded the firm’s client $600,000 for past and future pain and suffering.

The 22-year-old victim was crossing the street when a commercial plow driver struck him, sending him approximately 60 feet across the road and into a ditch on the side of Route 17K.  As a result, he sustained multiple fractures of his left hip and pelvis, which required an extensive reconstructive surgery with the insertion of four plates, several screws, and metal wire.

Said trial attorney Nicholas W. Maiorano, “This was a challenging case, but ultimately the jury determined that drivers should be held accountable when they are driving too fast and not keeping a careful lookout for pedestrians.  As a result of their decision, we hope that future injuries can be avoided.”
