Fairway Market recalls its Brand Raw Hazelnuts due to Possible Salmonella Contamination.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Fairway market is recalling its brand Raw Hazelnuts (Filberts) due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

Salmonella can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children, elderly or others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with the bacteria can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

The Hazelnuts were distributed to Fairways stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, also through home delivery.

The Hazelnuts are packaged in clear, plastic cello bags of varying weights (less than 1lb). Customers are advised to check packaging for code 228119 XXXXXX. All “Sell by: date code of May 15th 2015 and earlier are being recalled.

Consumers who purchased the Fairway brand Raw Hazelnuts (Filberts) should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
