A natural‑gas explosion occurred during excavation due to a utility’s failure to keep accurate records of its own underground gas system resulting in a failure to properly mark its own lines which caused devastating and catastrophic injuries to our client. Managing Partner Andrew Finkelstein, Trial Partner Brian Acard, and Appellate Partner Lawrence Lissauer litigated the case. Summary judgement was granted against the utility. The day before jury selection the case settled for a total of $125,000,000 — believed to be the largest settlement ever for a single injured person in New York State history.
