Anti distracted driving

On Thursday, November 3rd we had the opportunity to visit Suny Orange, in Newburgh New York, to give a free presentation about the dangers of distracted driving. Managing Partner Andrew Finkelstein offered students a new perspective on distracted driving, and also spoke to students about his experiences learning, living, and working in Newburgh.

Newburgh’s water source

Just months ago Newburgh residents received news that no community ever wants to hear: the community’s water source had been contaminated.  It was discovered Newburgh’s water source contained Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, or PFOS, a pollutant with the potential to cause a number of serious diseases, including kidney disease and some cancers.

Standing with local leaders in Newburgh, U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today toured the banks of Washington Lake, the site of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) contamination, which is believed to have originated at the Stewart Air National Guard base.

work zone crashes

It has been less than a week since two serious but unrelated crashes on I-84 in Orange County. The crashes, which both occurred in the same area, resulted in one fatality and nearly two dozen injuries. The crashes prompted the Department of Transportation (DOT) to review what, if anything could have been done to prevent the crashes. Both incidents occurred just outside of Newburgh in a highway work zone.

New york city celebrations

Over the weekend we were proud to sponsor and attend the Newburgh Illuminated Festival. There are several Finkelstein & Partners locations throughout the state and we make an effort to participate in various community events to support our neighbors. While we truly enjoy each event we partake in, this past weekend’s event was especially meaningful as our booth sat just a couple blocks away from the firm’s very first location.

Client experience

“When I had my car crash in Newburgh, I was not sure what lawyer I should call in Orange County. Thankfully a friend suggested Finkelstein & Partners. I didn't have an easy case and they weren't too sure they would take my case and I am glad they did.
