A local man is lucky to be alive after a close call on a Highland logging trail. 

The incident took place on a farm off of Upper North Road in Highland New York. Emergency officials were dispatched to the scene after the victim’s partner called 911 at roughly 11am on 1/20/2015.

Apparently the two men were cutting a tree when the tree unexpectedly came down, pinning one of the loggers.

Construction Accident

On Thursday, January 14, 2016 a home project went terribly wrong in New Lebanon, New York.

According to authorities the victim, a 38 year old New Lebanon man, was attempting to help a family member install footing drainage around a home on Route 5. The man was working from a ditch when the sides of the trench collapsed, burying him in debris.

First responders and family members desperately tried to save the victim but unfortunately were unsuccessful. 

Wappingers Falls, New York- The Dutchess County community is mourning the death of a Wappingers Falls native who at just 30 years old died in Brooklyn days ago. On Sunday, December 6th 2015 a vehicle attempting to avoid rear ending a bus instead hopped a curb and hit the young woman and two others. 

The Time’s Herald-Record, a local news source, recently released and article urging pedestrians and drivers to be mindful of one another. 

According to the article in the last two months alone two people have died and another twelve people were injured after being hit by a car. The incidents have taken place in Walden, Warwick, Middletown and surrounding areas. According to Newburgh police on December 5th five pedestrians were struck in just one hour.


In the early hours of Saturday, December 5th thousands of New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey residents were affected by a sudden power outage.

The outage wiped out power in approximately 52,000 homes and businesses throughout the three states. According to Orange & Rockland Utilities (the power provider in the areas affected) malfunctioning equipment caused the wide-spread outage. 

Upstate car crash

Clarence, NY: On Sunday, November 22nd five teenagers were involved in serious car crash in an upstate town not far from Buffalo, New York.

According to deputies the vehicle driven by a 19-year-old female driver veered off Tonawanda Creek Road and into a tree. The driver had to be extracted from the badly damaged vehicle by local firefighters; she later died at the hospital.

The condition of the 4 surviving passengers has yet to be released. 

Newburgh Authorities

Newburgh, N.Y. - On the evening of Monday, October 26th a 73 year old Walden resident was fatally struck and killed by a vehicle on Rt.32 in the Mill Street vicinity. 

The 21-year-old driver, a Newburgh woman, was uninjured in the crash. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Fatal injuries

Albany police were able to reprehend a drunk driver prior to any serious or fatal injuries on October 18th. 

According to police the woman behind the wheel was seen slamming into two parked cars on Delaware Avenue at approximately 2:30 am Sunday morning. 

The drunk driver continued onto Lark Street when she continued for about a mile before being stopped by police. 

The driver was charged with aggravated DWI and criminal mischief.
