Teen driver suspected of drug use

On Friday, October 28th two teenage boys were involved in a horrific crash. The incident transpired around 11pm. The driver of a 2006 sedan, an 18 year old male, drove off the road and ended up lodged under a pick up truck. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to crash through a nearby tavern wall. Both vehicles, and a third vehicle, burst into flames. 

The Food and Drug Administration is urging consumers to think carefully about taking painkillers, like ibuprofen, since recent studies link the drugs to an increased risk of heart disease or stroke.

Eric Pahon, FDA spokesman, told NBC News "They used to say they might cause risk of heart attack or stroke. Now we are saying they do cause increased risk of heart attack and stroke."

This spring a husband and wife couple, along with their two teenage sons ventured to a popular vacation destination, St. John. Four days into their vacation emergency officials were called to the family’s rental. Inside, the mother and two sons we’re suffering from seizures and the father had fallen unconscious.

The Food and Drug Administration issued an alert after a number of patients had fallen ill, with a superbug, known as CRE, that is resistant to even last-resort antibiotics.

[7-3-2013] The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning that the blood pressure drug olmesartan medoxomil (marketed as Benicar, Benicar HCT, Azor, Tribenzor, and generics) can cause intestinal problems known as sprue-like enteropathy. FDA has approved changes to the labels of these drugs to include this concern.

According to a recent study released in Public Health Reports, the profile of a drugged driver has changed since 1993. The study shows that more drivers are now testing positive for prescription drugs, marijuana, and multiple drugs.

Although we have seen a decrease in the amount of motor vehicle fatalities involving people under the influence, the nature of these crashes is in fact changing.
