Improving nursing home conditions

Recent changes made to federal nursing home rules could very well result in a better quality of life for nursing home patients. The new rules and requirements will be implemented in three phases. The requirements and objectives of the new federal rules include:

Nursing Home Residents

A North Haven, Connecticut Nursing home is facing fines after a patient fell and later died from related complications. 

The resident reportedly fell out of bed and suffered injuries including a blog clot in their brain. The use of bed rails very well could have, and should have, prevented the fall and the untimely death of the resident. 

A sad story comes to us from Maine about a woman whose grandfather was sexually abused in 2006 in a nursing home. The Marro family believed their grandfather’s dementia was setting in and clogging his thoughts. As his health declined, they felt a Brunswick nursing home would be a safe place for him to live.
