Blinds To Go has voluntarily recalled about 200,000 custom made window shades. While no incidents or injuries have been reported, there is a potential strangulation hazard for small children due to the capacity for the shades chain/cord loop to slip out of the device.
Statistics show a child is strangled from window coverings or blinds every month. The Window Covering Safety Council suggests taking these simple steps to help prevent accidents:
• Keep all window cords well out of the reach of children. Eliminate any dangling cords
• Make sure that tasseled pull cords are as short as possible
• Check that cord stops are properly installed and adjusted to limit the movement of inner lift cords
• Continuous loop cords on draperies and vertical blinds should be permanently anchored to the floor or wall
