Trucks, Buses, and Distractions

In 2013 the number of trucks and buses involved in fatal car increased from the year prior. In December of 2014 the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration published rules that prohibit interstate truck and bus drivers from using hand-held phones while operating their vehicles.

The rule states that drivers can not hold or reach for a mobile phone, or use more than one button. Penalties include driver disqualification and thousands of dollars in fines. 

In 2013 3,154 lost their lives because of distracted driving. While 2014 statistics have yet to be published, distracted driving is still an issue that affects us all on a daily basis. Learn more about distracted driving and what you can do to spread the word- commit to quit, it could save a life.
