Motorcyclist Severely Injured After Car Collision

On Sunday, July 12th, 2015 a Yates County motorcyclist was struck by a car while riding down Route five in Geneva, NY.

According to authorities, the driver of the car was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Route 14A. The vehicle failed to yield to the right of way and struck the victim.

The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet, but suffered severe injuries to the lower part of his body. He was airlifted to Strong Hospital.

Motorcyclists are severely injured every day in auto collisions. According to the IIHS, “The federal government estimates that per mile traveled in 2013, the number of deaths on motorcycles was over 26 times the number in cars.” Motorcyclists often face a particularly difficult recovery as injuries are usually severe.
