Ford Recalls Over a Million Cars for Faulty Steering

Last week, Ford announced it is recalling a total of 1.4 million vehicles. Approximately 1.1 million SUVs sold in America are being recalled because they could suffer loss of power steering.

An additional 200,000 Ford Taurus sedans manufactured between 2010 and 2014 could be prone to a corrosion issue. The carmaker could soon break the record for most recalls in a year. Most of those recalls have come in the wake of a safety scandal at Ford rival General Motors. GM allegedly did not report safety defects in some of its cars that could cause engine failure and suddenly shuts off. There have been at least 13 deaths related to the fault.

Both carmakers have stepped up their efforts to recall vehicles once defects are discovered.
